A nonprofit media lab created by and for the disability community.

We are a nonprofit disability media and narrative lab building communications infrastructure by and for the disability community. We amplify and support disabled leaders to achieve big political wins and shift narratives around disability and ableism.

We envision a world in which the majority of Americans want to see all disabled people thrive, and in which ableist actions have real consequences.

Disability Culture Lab works to shift narratives of disability in the United States from fear and pity to solidarity and liberation, and move the needle on ableism from indifference to action. We don’t just need one small policy win, we need transformative change. Disabled people deserve to thrive as we are, where we are, now.

Our work to achieve our mission includes high-level fellowships and training, creative campaigns, strategic communications, centralized booking and media support, convenings, and creative exploration around narrative change.

Disability unites us across social movements. Every form of oppression is disabling, and disabled people exist in every community, and always will. That’s why we bring a cross-movement lens to our work, and root our work in disability justice as defined by Sins Invalid

We launch in May 2024, with new programs launching throughout 2024 and 2025.
